first of a few songs in a row to celebrate my wife, mar’s birthday…can’t write enough songs about or for her. i’m thinking about sharing a song a week starting on my birthday in october… maybe some poems. be on the lookout, if you care to be.
wrote this one thinking about how growing things sometimes collide long enough to grow into each other…the intertwine of lovers or something sappy like that (pun intended)
Lyrics:
Hey it’s me
Your tangle tree
I’ll wake you up
And be your cup of foamy coffee
I’ll keep your warm
With my branches and my leaves
I’ll try to meet your needs
But at least we can always drink
The sunlight for free
What am I to do
You grow right through me
What am I to do now baby
Yeah, you grow right through me
If they cut you down
You know I’d die
The birds they sing
Up where the green
Dances in the wind
Dances in the wind
The birds they sing
Up where the green
Dances in the wind
Dances in the wind
Your head can rest
Here on my chest
I don’t care
I’ll ignore the forest
If I can be
Your tangle tree
